Welcome to Stanley House here are a few of the rules and behaviour codes we would like you to adhere to. These rules will make your stay pleasurable and memorable. Julie Welcome to Stanley House.
There are four Houseparents at the Hostel. They live in flats in the dormitory blocks-one on each floor. There are two Houseparents on duty and on call over night every day, so if you any problems there is an adult for you to go to at any time. The houseparent on your floor will help you to settle in to the Hostel.
Other staff at the Hostel:
Matron, who you should tell if you feel unwell, She will take you to see the doctor if you need to. She also takes care of the juniors and helps to do the homework and helps them to get sorted out for bedtime.
The Senior Houseparent looks after the day to day running of the Hostel and likes to keep it running smoothly, You will find her in the office upstairs and the door is always open you can come in at any time and have a chat.
The Secretary is a good person to know she will book your flight home and back to Stanley house.
Fire Drill at Stanley House, Firstly the bells are very loud and will make you jump don't panic just leave the building in an orderly fashion quickly but quietly please do not run. A houseparent will make sure that you have left the building. Meet them on the driveway, they will call out your name. If there ever is a real fire you will be taken to the junior school for safety.
Monday and Thursday's are Tuck days. When you get back to Stanley House at lunchtime you go to the office to collect it. Please remember do not leave it lying around it may not be there when you return.
Before you come into Stanley House all your clothes should have your name on them to avoid them getting lost at school or at the laundry. Laundry goes out on a Monday and Thursday morning's and returned the same day. Please try not to bring in hand-wash items.
If you want to bring anything else from home ie; CD player. During the winter term Houseparents arrange different activities visits to MPA for Cinema, Bowls etc. In Stanley they organise trips to the Sports centre, play games. In Stanley House we have pool, table-tennis, football computers & computer games. There are many organised clubs around Guides, Brownies, Sea Cadets, Youth Club, Scouts, Netball, Swimming, Squash & lots of other things to do. Once you get settled in someone will show you around & help you.
During the summer we go camping visit the beaches close by, go fishing or just out for a walk to enjoy the wildlife after a long day at school, There is always something to do or somewhere to go. Please remember to bring sun cream with you it is very important that you bring it.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER.
We hope you will enjoy your time in the Hostel and make a lot of new friends. For us to enjoy being together there is a standard of behaviour we expect from everyone.
1) Boarders are asked to show respect and politeness towards each other, the staff and visitors to the Hostel. 2) Bullying is NOT allowed and must be reported to the staff straight away. Nobody has the right to make anyone else unhappy. 3) Bad language should not be used. 4) Respect each others privacy & property. 5) When entering buildings, please remove footwear place them on the racks. 6) Please leave your room tidy make your bed before going to breakfast. 7) Please be sure to have all the things you need for homework, a Houseparent is on duty to be of assistance if you need help with homework. 8) Please be on time for meals, no food to be taken upstairs in main house. 9) Please be careful not to damage furniture or fittings, parents will be asked to pay for any deliberate damage. Report any damage to a member of staff.
FORBIDDEN ITEMS;
Knives, matches, lighters cigarettes and alcohol.
Medication must be handed in to the matron or Houseparent.
