CONDITIONS Parents are asked to read the follo=

with their children before they enter the School Hostel. Please sign in the space provide=

accompanying Parental Consent Form to show that you accept these conditio=
ns
and regulations on your child’s behalf. |

Weekday leave: Unless prevented by School or Ho=
stel duties,
there will be general leave from 3.50 pm to 6.00 pm to enable children to
visit friends and relatives and to use the sports centre or do shopping.<=

for school before 8.30 am or 1.30 pm. |

|

Weekend leave: Children can check out after sch=
ool on
Fridays for the weekend, or Saturdays and Sundays between 10.00 am and 6.=

pm and for attendance at Evensong.
Invitations should be made through the Hostel staff and not direct=
ly
to the children. Standing
arrangements may be made provided that the Head of Hostel is informed. An=
yone
inviting children out will be asked to sign a form accepting responsibili=
ty
for the care and safety of the child during their time away from the Host=
el. No person under the age of 21 wi=
ll be
allowed to sign children out and the Head of Hostel retains the right to
withdraw signing-out privileges as appropriate. |

|
|
|
FLIGHTS: |
|
|
|
|
|
The Education Department will not p=
ay flights
when children are withdrawn before the last Monday of term. FIGAS flights are not funded for
boarders who live in reasonable proximity to a road from |
|
|
|
|
|
VISITS TO |
|
|
|
|
|
The above rules will be relaxed in =
the
case of children whose parents are visiting |
|
|
|
|
|
DISCOS |
|
|
|
|
|
Leave will not be given to attend s=
uch
functions unescorted.
Opportunities to attend will depend entirely on the availability of
staff willing to act as escorts. |
|
|
|
|
|
POCKET MONEY; |
|
|
|
|

In the interest of fairness to all,=
it
would be appreciated if parents would honour these arrangements
regarding the amounts of po=
cket money
and refrain from making private arrangements, which may by-pass, the
system. Extra money sent in=
for
special purposes should be handed in to the Houseparent for safe-keeping.=
Older children will be encourage=
d to
open bank accounts. |

|
|
3) |
All money brought in at the beginni=
ng
of term must be handed in for safe-keeping. Cheques for pocket money should =
be
made payable to, Stanley House Tuck Money and not the Education
Department. A receipt will =
be
given and the money deposited in the Standard Chartered Bank. Any interest accruing to this ac=
count
will be paid into the Hostel Donations Fund. |

|

DISCIPLINE: |
|
|
|
|
1) |
It is intended to promote good
discipline in the Hostel by positively encouraging the children to act in=
a
thoughtful and responsible manner at all times. When the need for disciplinary a=
ction
does arise, transgressors can expect to be treated firmly but fairly, with
punishments similar to those used in most homes. |
|
|
|
|
2) |
Serious breaches of good discipline=
and
cases of continual disruptive behaviour will be reported to the parents of
the children concerned. In =
a very
serious case, the Director of Education may decide to suspend a child from
the Hostel. |
|
|
|
|
3) |
Breakages to Hostel furniture, fitt=
ings
or equipment resulting from mis-use, will be charged to the parents. |
|
|
|
|
|
CLOTHING: |
|
|
|
|
1) |
The Head of Hostel will inform pare=
nts
of shortages in children’s clothing arising from lack of provision =
and
wear and tear. Houseparents=
will
be prepared to shop for additions and replacements on receipt of written
authority from parents to charge necessary purchases to their local accou=
nts. |
|
|
|
|
2) |
Whilst there are no hard and fast r=
ules
regarding dress in the Hostel, parents are asked to make sure that their
children’s clothing is of a robust nature, and clearly marked with =
their
name. Laundry is sent out twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, although
older children are encouraged to wash their own more delicate items. Week=
ly
boarders however do not receive the laundry service. |

|
PERSONAL BELONGINGS |
1) The Host=
el
staff does not except responsibility
for lose or damage to personal belongings such as
=
bikes, radios, music centres, cameras, etc,etc. But the children are
welcome to bring them at their
risk.
